Meet The Team

;

Kay Brearley

I have owned dogs for almost 40 years and have experience of dealing with a variety of breeds ranging from Yorkshire Terrier to Great Dane. I have previously owned Cats which include Burmese and Cross Breads. I have also bred Birds, ranging from Dusky Lories to Amazon Parrots and I have kept both Marine and Tropical Fish. I currently jointly own two English Cocker Spaniels with my husband Lee, and one working Cocker Spaniel.

Following my retirement I have embarked upon a complete change of career direction which has been influenced by my passion for dogs and for this reason I set up Kay9Brearley Professional Dog Walking in June 2015.

In preparation for setting up the business, I studied for and obtained two Diplomas (with Distinction) in Professional Dog Walking and Canine Care and First Aid. I further qualified in May 2016 as an Advanced Canine First Aider with ‘1st Aiders Training’ at a course held in Shrewsbury. I have recently obtained 2 further qualifications obtaining a distinction in an Introduction to solving dog behaviour problems as well as completing Advanced Dog First Aid.

I am a member of the International Society of Animal Professionals, and I Fully Insured and Security (DBS) Cleared. I am also a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) providing reassurance to customers that their dogs will be safe in transit.

Testimonials

I have known Kay for many years due to our interest in all things Canine.

Kay has worked with, and owned Dogs, for several years and has a keen interest in Canine Welfare. She treats her Dogs with the love and respect any owner should, and goes over and beyond to ensure that her Dogs are happy, well cared for and safe.

Kay has undertaken instruction on Canine matters to ensure her knowledge of Dogs enables her to act appropriately in a Canine Emergency.

She is very animal orientated and is able to offer a first class service to anybody who places their Dog in her care.

Testimonials

Kay walks my Mothers Dog Dinky for me three days a week, he is old and a bit grumpy with other Dogs. To be walked on his own rather than in a pack is brilliant.

He is a much loved Dog and my Mum said she didn’t want a Dog walker, she has now changed her mind and said today “what a nice lady she is!”

Kay has been very flexible and has a chat with Mum when she arrives and goes. I would be very happy to recommend her services to anyone, especially elderly Clients as I believe she is very trustworthy.

Testimonials

Millie and Kay are partners in crime. Kay walks Millie (a working Cocker Spaniel) twice a week and it is lovely to know that she is well looked after and spoilt by someone we trust.

We would recommend Kay9Brearley Professional Dog Walking to all Dog owners and frequently do. Basically they are great!

Testimonials

We’ve been using Kay Brearley’s dog Walking Service for over 3 months now. Our Dog Toby, a lively Cockapoo, has just turned 15months old, and is certainly more settled for having his daily walk with Kay.

He has noticeably improved his behaviour while walking too, walking better to heal and listening to commands. Toby is always very excited when Kay arrives, having seen this whilst on a few days off. We would definitely recommend Kay for her excellent service.

Testimonials

Kay has been walking our retired Greyhound, Rooney, for the past eight months since we moved into the area and we feel very lucky to have found her. Kay is very experienced with Dogs and she instantly put Rooney (and us) at ease by her calm, confident and understanding approach.

We have always been reassured by Kay’s professionalism, enthusiasm and reliability.

Oona and Malcolm

Testimonials

We highly recommend Kay and Lee. They are absolutely brilliant with our Jack Russell, Olive. Her needs are always the priority and Kay is very caring towards Olive, leaving a diary, being attentive if Olive is not 100%, sending pictures and adapting to the weather.

This is our first time having a Dog Walker and we feel so fortunate that she is in really safe, experienced and trained hands. Olive is very happy with the attention she gets from Kay – although she is still stubborn!

Testimonials

“I have used Kay9 Dog Walking Services for the past two years and have found that Lee and Kay provide an extremely reliable and professional service, which would be impossible to beat. Nothing is too much trouble, including an initial consultation before taking my Dogs out where both Lee and Kay got to know them.  I am extremely confident and reassured leaving them with Lee and Kay.”

Testimonials

“Kay and Lee have been in our lives for two years and asking them to be involved with our two Golden Retrievers was one of the best decisions we made. As new parents we were struggling to fit in everything that a new baby entails along with work commitments, household duties and giving our boys the two big lovely walks they’ve been used to their whole lives. Kay and Lee were recommended to us and we’ve never looked back!
Our boys love it when Kay arrives at the house, they go bananas with excitement! There are only a handful of people I would ever trust with one of our boys as he is deaf and therefore a little temperamental at times and I can honestly say that Kay and Lee are most definitely amongst those people. They show genuine care and affection for the boys, always use their judgement and make the best decisions when situations arise such as warm weather or if one of the boys isn’t feeling themselves.  They honestly go above and beyond any expectation I had. As a family we couldn’t do without Kay and Lee. Our boys love them and we appreciate everything they do for us.”

Testimonials

We find that having to hand the care of our Dogs over to someone else is one of the most difficult things to do – especially when that person is new to you. When we first met Kay and Lee, we were so blown away by both their genuine affection towards our Dogs and their professionalism. Kay came loaded with such organised documentation illustrating her many qualifications and achievements in the areas of Dog Walking, Canine Care and First Sid which were so reassuring to see. They both also asked all of the right questions and mentioned issues that we hadn’t even considered. Not only was it a very comfortable decision to employ them both as our Dog Walkers; it was easy!

Kay (and Lee, mainly) have been walking our two Dogs, Harry and Evie, since late 2016. Harry is a very well-behaved black Labrador Retriever, approaching his senior years, and Evie is a rescue Springer Spaniel/Pointer Cross. Evie is a few years younger than Harry although she has a couple of spinal issues which have affected her mobility and have made walking her a little more of a challenge since her mobility and temperament can often be unpredictable.

The additional challenge for Kay and Lee in walking Harry and Evie is that due to shift work, they’re not required on a regular basis – our requests for them to walk Harry and Evie are regular but they are sporadic, days change from week to week. We notify them in advance but they’ve done an exceptional job of accommodating our varying needs.

Testimonials

“Kay has walked Poppy three times a week for nearly 4 years. Poppy loves her walks and is always happy and excited to see Kay. Kay is totally reliable and I know with absolute certainty the Poppy is in safe hands.”

Testimonials

“Lee and Kay have been walking Alfie for three years and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the quality and unique service they provide.

I have always felt this is more of a family than a service and Lee and Kay go above and beyond to ensure your Dog is happy, well-looked after and they enjoy their experience.

Alfie was once a shy and timid boy, now he enjoys socialising with a newly found confidence.

Lee and Kay provide unique and quality first touches to the service by providing a diary which is reassuring and enjoyable to read when I get home from work.

Happy Dog and Happy Owner!

Kirsty and Alfie
